    Good news, bad news

    Freud - remember him? - called the desire to lead an orderly life the Death Wish. So there's a dark edge to my satisfaction that my mornings have settled into a productive routine. Not to worry, though. My afternoons remain a lively mess.

    After a week of rain, the sky over Chicago has suddenly turned very blue. Airliners on short approach to Ohare are doing 180's over my apartment building.

    Lycopene

    I read a report from a British medical journal that claimed that large doses of lycopene was as effective as statins in lowering cholesterol. After taking 40mg/day for two months I lowered my cholesterol by 40 points. Anecdotal to be sure; but my doctor was kind of amazed. He wants me to be retested in 3 mos.

    A Tuned Political Circuit

    There will always be people who want less government (right-wingers), as there will always be people who want better government (lefties). If you match these two components correctly you can get a powerful country. If they're mismatched no work gets done.

    Campaign Finance Reform

    The internet is the only media source I use to help me decide who I'm going to vote for. Since neither my current state senator nor my current state legislator have official websites, I probably won't  have sufficient  information to cause me to vote for either of them.
