Quiet and reflective

Spent a quiet Sunday at home after cycling to mass.Carmel was out for the dinner as usual.Listened to some history on Newstalk. It was about Sean McBride in the last part. I just feel shitty.Kathleen rang to say we were to go to Monivea in the morning.I heard that Lyons was home from Seattle. If I meet him I don't knoiw what will happen

Got it done

Thank God that I got that old rubbish off.I went fairly early around 9.20 am and was in there at about 11 via Monivea as i was afraid I would run out of diesel.
That guy at the weigh bridge is a bit of a pain causing the same hassle as the last time saying I 'd have to pay for it until he got it sorted with the council.
I told him that I had phoned yesterday for the All clear I suggested he contact the manager Campbell Finny which he did.The matter was sorted in a minute and he was slight bit remorseful like the last time. You would think he should have know.

I arrived back in Ryehill by the Tuam road about one and washed down the trailer before taking the creels off.I felt that a big weight on my shoulders had lifted going home.

Mattie Holian's burial was just over when I arrived here in Doonane.
Mary is out .She came earlier than usual.I think she was at the funeral. That cd set hadn't arrived yet

Getting things done

I got over the TB test ok..Got the cattle in fairly handy as well thank GOD

I will probable go to Mountbellew in the morning.

I might give some blood this evening as I have to do shopping as well.
Just heard in the death notices about Mattie Holian's .I should have known when there was a lot of cars outside the house when I passed yesterday. He was 94 I think..Just a year after our own funeral and he was born in 1917 a year after himself almost to the day
Isn't it amazing how God has set a time limit on everybody's life?

Got a few jobs that were nagging me done today.
I service the car (oil+filters) easily enough.I might have to get the brake pads checked.hey may need renewing.Hopefully Trevor can help.

I rang Roche the councillor about dumping the load of rubbish and he told me he would consult the other guy. Please God I will be rid of it by this week.

I might do a bit of fencing around the forestry as well .

Christmas eve

Got a new webcam. It is a HD one so it shouyld be better than the last one.
4.30pm
Christmas eve so soon again. Who ever gave the expression "being as slow as Christmas"?
.Had a terrible week.Coming and going here and there. It was to Loughrea on Monday,Galway on Tuesday,Athenry on Wednesday and so on.I am on a spending spree at the moment.I hope that I don't over do it

Pexie Coppinger's funeral was last weekend. She died in England.I have fond memories of going out to Pexie's for penny drinks and sweets when I was young.

Be back in a while after University challenge!

6.00pm
Bernadette rang this morning to say that she was coming over on Tuesday morning. It is funny that yesterday evening I was watching a programme about how God speaks to us in our dreams.I think that she would be better off putting her money aside for a rainy day besides spending it .I must cost her over $1500 to come over. You couldn't tell her anything like Carmel. She is so self centered and selfish I bought a book about personal finance as did for Mary.It is the only way I know to teach her. There must be something wrong if she is going broke
Last night the dream that I had was of taking photos of someone from the us.Patricia Rohan's kids were in it as well. What a coincidence.
In fact just the other day,Monday I think there was a man on Derek Mooney's program that gets revelations about world event through dreams. He says he got dreams about September 11th,Chernobyl and some IRA bombing .And his most recent was that Prince Phillip was near death(I was getting the same sort of hunch myself)then just today the news was that prince Philip had suffered a heart attack and is in hospital.
I was browsing for Amsterdam hotel deals and got a nice one for around €330.
I think the flight would be under €100.

Should I or shouldn't I take it?That is the question.

still stressed

when will it end? Got stakes for the forestry today. Was in Galway on Monday about the investment account. It brought back memories because the lad I was dealing with was a son of John Campbell who I worked with many years ago in Crown. And as a coincidence another guy(Charlie Redmond I think ) who I used to work with in crown works there as well.. I left in the tape of granny Rohan's birthday and Thomas's christening to get on to a DVD to O Connors.Pity they would not edit it.I will have to do it myself if I can It was raining all day which put me off the fencing.Maybe tomorrow

winners and losers

The big story is from early morning is that Michael D Higgins is to be our next President.Up Galway.
I hope this will spur them on

I let the weanling out after lunch.I had put the ring on him beforehand but he started sucking immediatlly.Well he was trying anyway but he should grow out of it.

I just fell that something bad is going to happen. The atmosphere in this house is not good.Day or night..Not to mention the computer changing resolutionm.I hope I get a solution soon.

Yesterday was rainig like today.Austin wasn't in.Just as well as there was a disagreement about the buildind. That fat guy with the glasses(cant remember his name) said that he was the boss and he wanted the door position blocked up.
Micky and Divillyt were a bit put out and after ringing Kathleen Cannon we were moved to Monivea untill the matter is resolved. We did some cleaning and spraying the stand with Joe Gill.
I made a few jibes at Gill after he called me buddy.Ollie was there too.

I got to my surprise the Wales Australia match for the bronze medal.Australia were the victors this time.It is France/ New Zealand tomorrow.I think tjhat France can still cause an upset.

Raining all morning.I went to Diamonds after feeding the weanlings.By all account weanlings are going well at the moment.I suppose I had better book the twin in Athenry for Thursday.Dont know about the other one.He would go well not being squeezed and all.

I have to go to the bank on Monday about a long term savings option.I have not decided on that either.Must be more assertive and make up my mind. The bible tell me that a person between two minds will never get anywhere.

Same again

Was in Brookelodg again today. We started the block laying at long last..
Austin was a bit finicky as usual. He doesn't trust anybody else to do the job.(I made a few jibes back at him.He wont be in tomorrow anyway

Kathleen Cannon came after lunch.I bought a ticket for a Monivea Abbey Gaa club dance in the Abbey in for €10
It came wet around 2.30 or 3 pm and we waited for the time inside the church.

I bought a bag beef nuts on the way home. The youngest weanling is looking good.Pity that i didn't test him when Brody was out. Dont know what I will do with him now.Sell or keep for the winter?

I nstalled a new display driver and rang Paddy Cuirly about it.NO improvement so far.

I answered aprayer request for Karen who has cancer.Let us see her healed. Thanks be to God

yukky

Feeling rather unpleasant. The computer resolution is at the same annoying trick again after I installed an new driver. And I still regret paying too much for that bloody fog lamp. When will my fortunes come right?

as in Brookelodge in the first half of the day and the mausoleum after lunch. We got the foundation in after a prolonged attempt. It was raining all day y on Monday. It was so frustrating sitting in the car listening to the radio.I often bob off to sleep.

Broderick was there first thing.Kathleen Cannon came around midday. She said something about wearing the hard hats.Givingf us a nudge I think. after the meeting on Monday morning.

The presidential race is all the go in the media.Dana is ok but a bit over sensitive for the presidency.Sean Gallagher is topping the opinion polls but would he make a suitable President? Michael D

All the media indications are that the All Blacks will win the World cup .I have another inkling that France will cause a major shock.Their on and off the field antics may be a cover up for the unexpected. Llet us wait and see.
And I think that Wales should take third spot after their tragedy last week end.

R&R

Right again about the rugby. It was France by a whisker.9 -8 after Wales had their captain sent off. I'll hazard a guess on tomorrows match and go for the All Blacks. Then France to triumph in the final and Wales taking third place.

The Alexander technique went fairly well. The same crowd bar one. The nice looking one. We did a good bit today between exercises and everything. I find it hard to relax with my scars from the past. Although they are bothering me a long time now hopefully they will go away with perseverance. The tutor Richard Brennan is easy to follow. He even got me a coffee.I bought a cushion and a book for €45.Well worth it so far. I can feel a real difference with the cushion. Much more comfortable.

I was chatting to one of the participants. It turned out that she was a retired University lecturer from the U.S.Just my luck. She seemed so average in appearance. She was friendly though sup[p[ose that I shouldn’t have delved into her work life. Shut up and mind your own business!Damned if you do and damned if you don't!

Got two of the weanlings off to Mountbellew today I was bored and confused as hell down there.I was wandering about not knowing what to do.I got a good price any way.Well I hope i did.I met Austin there. He came in to have a look because he was working around that area.

I got the other Rugby semi final right as well.It is Australia to play the All Blacks.I think the All Blacks could swing it this time,They have to much to lose.France to beat Wales tomorrow morning and go on to win it outright..

Have to go to the Alexander course again tomorrow.Kind a looking forward to it.

No change

Oh what a frustrating week.nothing seems to change .Is it me or the world.I just feel so yukky.frustrated unhappy and depressed.

Trying to wean the cattle is frustrating to say the least.Breaking out then having to call Brody the vet out because they weren't dehorned properly after having been so careful. Then got a fine bill of over €100.What the hell is going on or when will it end? When will I have some peace?

Was at work all week in Brookelodge with the usual crew bar Divilly.
It rained a lot meaning long spells sitting in the cart. But I did a bit of reading.Must get more organised. One book at a time.

Ireland and Wales are playing in the morning. The World cup semi final.Have a inkling that Wales will come out on toip. Was going to put a bit of money on France( /1) to win outright.but I 'd better not get into gambling.

They are winning the soccer match in Andorra 2 -0.I think they could could get there with a little luck like back in 1987.

I might get up at six am to see the Ireland Wales match.I have to go to Galway tomorrow the Alexander technique is on in the Menlo park hotel just for a day. Then I will go out to the car breakers to see if they have a replacement lens for the car.Another misfortune I just remembered.

What a bizarre dead depressing frustrating time that I am having. If it isn't the computer going haywire, the VCR ,the tractor, the cattle, the radio all cocking up.
Is their strange forces at work?I wonder.
Have to get a heifer dehorned tomorrow.Dont know how I missed her.Bcause she was one of a twin I suppose.Even then I should not have missed her
I just feel shitty and depressed every day I get up and there is no sign of a let up.
Will there be an answer? There has to be

Successes and failures

Another bother frustrated night.Getting up eating then going back to bed. When will it end.Lord hear my prayers
Got the starter in.Working fine.

Started topping the thistles.Took a bit of hassle and a few ffs getting the topper onto the tractor.

Then was working fine until I ht the big stone that i was trying to avoid.Broke a nut in the pto.I had to go to Monivea for a replacement. The one I got from Conaty was a little too narrow but it worked until lunchtime when it sheared off like the last one.I went again and got a better fitting one then came home for a sandwich..

Went down again and finished the first field without any hitches this time.

Was home around 5.30 and watched TV as usual

Winning and losing

Problems all over the place.Put the solenoid in on Saturday morning but no joy.It was spinning but not the engine.Sen Gabriel and got Peter Melody's number.
He didn't know but said he would be around Monday.

Was in Galway Saturday night after shopping in Athenry earlier on.

Was in Athenry to see the match .The ladies(Galway camoige)) came up short again. The third time in four years. They have nobody to blame but themselves .A few easy looking frees went wide.I think the team that don't take their chances never win anything..How ever one exception was Jonny Wilkinson missed about for penalties but they still came out on top against Argentina in the Rugby World cup. I think that there is a psychological problem with Galway sport. There was some small consolation as the u 21 hurlers came up trumps in Thurles on Saturday evening.I suppose like everything else perseverence.Don't give up.Quitters never win.

I took out the starter and brought it to Gabriel this morning but he had nobody there to test it out. There is definitely a change since Claude passed away.

End and beginning

Same as usual.Brookelodge of course. The same gang except Divilly.

Donohues did have the Mail this morning. It must have just come in as I had to ask on of the guys working there for it

We finished off yesterday's job (adding mortar to the ends of timber roof beams to strengthen them).
As the roof sheeting was not there that there was little else to do so I we kept out of sight for a lot of the day.The German Lady was hanging around all day.She seems O.K. but she sound very deep unlike the boss Jackie. She come across more friendly light hearted.

Pulled into Abbey on the way and following Austin's and Mickey's I bought a bucket of Magnesium for the cows. They were warning against getting Grass tetany something that never has bothered me so far.I can remember ,it must be thirty years ago that Pete had a cow down with it.She was just after calving. The then neighbours Joe Killarney,Mattie Fahy came in to help Pete.It is amazing how quickly time flies.I will be old before I know it.Even reading the Years gone by section in the Tribune I lived through some of it.
We must take each day as it comes and not
be looking either forwards or backwards.
I went over to Gabriel Ruane with the old solenoid. He gave me a reconditioned one .€30 he charged.Well I have the tractor over a year now and thew fixed the many things that did go wrong.

I came home directly from Lyons .Put another dab of paint on the scratch in the Punto Hope that I am nearly finished with .

The Rugby world cup Kicked off.The All Blacks beat Tonga 41-10 but appeared not to be over impressive. All the pundits are backing them to win but i say France or Australia will be there too

Got the short course brochure from NUIG.I might consider Geneology of the other one about lifestyles.I will think about about it..
