It's easy to beat a really horrible team like the White Sox. But now the Twins will have to face a real team. The Royals are 8-2 in their last ten games.
If it weren't for dust bunnys, how would you know where to vacuum?
White Sox update.
I have this strange feeling that it doesn't matter how many games this awful team loses; they're going to win the division anyway.
Been attending quite a few - mostly day - games. Downloadable tickets are the nazz, facilitating last-minute decisions. The Sox are a highly-flawed team. They haven't done well against good pitching; and good pitchers are what you tend to face in the playoffs. But, as Steve Stone says: Anybody can beat anybody in a short series. Get past the Twins and it's just eleven more games...
You see this kind of thing more than you should.
From the Pritzker College Prep School homepage:
"Our mission is to prepare students for succes [sic] in college and beyond."
Good luck.
You can find my picture of St. Philomena School on Google Earth. Yesterday I went to the location to try out the "stitching" function on my digital camera. I wanted a panoramic view that included the church across the street. The two buildings form a pleasant urban oasis; one of Chicago's hidden gems. Now I find that the school building has been aquired by The Pritzker College Prep School. There were a bunch of R.O.T.C. types practicing close-order drill in the schoolyard where the kids used to romp. I guess the parish won't be needing to host one of those carny festivals next summer.
I don't think "living green" is as effective as "voting green"; but I'm willing to give it a go - if I don't have to work too hard at it. So today I found a site that I'm going to depend on unless it turns out to be astroturf:

Bought the highest-rated shampoo, liquid detergent and moisturizer. I just bought some "bad" shaving cream; so later for that.
16 ozs. dry lentils
1 large red onion (chopped)
1 large can diced tomatoes
8 ozs. frozen corn
8 ozs. frozen peas
2 quarts water
1/2 cup flax seed
Bay leaves
Wash lentils. Simmer them in a 4 quart pot for 1 hour. Add everything except the flax seed. Simmer again 1 hr. Grind flax seed, then slowly add to pot to avoid clumping. I let the pot cool before measuring 1 1/2 cup per serving into plastic containers (with covers). Store in freezer. Makes about 9 servings. Season when serving.

END THE OCCUPATION!
or maybe
CONTINUE THE OCCUPATION!
After watching the movie I.O.U.S.A I'm announcing the formation of a campaign that will address the looming fiscal crisis in the Medicare program by changing the demographics of the problem. By signing the Count Me Out pledge enrollees will opt for assisted suicide in lieu of burdening the Medicare fund for their continued existence.
Don't hobble the grandkids with your debts.
Update:
Here's an interesting counter-argument to the sentiments expressed in I.O.U.S.A. This article actually argues for the expansion of Medicare, claiming that the efficiencies realized by consolidating healthcare under one system would go a long way to resolving the presumed future deficits:

Keep Looking/Asking.
Since I'm not willing to break the law, I can only look forward to the time when I'm sick enough to be eligible for medical marijuana.
If Yoda-isms in English more popular become, this German easier to learn will make.
Visited the batting cage to renew my motorcycle license. Can still catch up to the offerings of the "Very Fast" machine; so I'm good to go for another year. Not exactly a power hitter anymore.
The cat's food has attracted hoards of tiny ants. A short Google search resulted in the purchase of "Raid Double-Action Ant Traps." Seems to have had some success. But until I annihilate the entire nest I've placed the cat dish in a larger dish filled with water.
Sign in a storefront window says:
Se Habla Espanol, Polish
I guess polaco would have been better. Pero, porque me importa que se habla polaco?
On a small piece of fenced, public land over by the highway, someone cultivated a small garden. A big sign says:
GARDEN FOR THE HUNGRY
An Eagle Scout Project
The gate is locked, while the overripe tomatoes get riper.
Nice sign.
I turned eleven much too soon; and so missed out on the obvious good times in schlepping a younger sibling around on the pegs of a BMX bicycle.
I am unimpressed with the random selection algorithm that powers the "View Random" function on this site.
Assisted living facilities that co-locate with a nursing home owned by the same company have less than no incentive to improve the health of the residents. They can just send them next door and get paid at a much higher daily rate.
I know a woman in such a facility who is suffering ill effects from the high-salt diet served in the dining room. The owners have shown no interest in differentiating the menu.
It was expensive, and therefore impractical. It can't be left (even securely locked) in a public place. So I only ride it to secure destinations. But, when I squeeze the accelerator - it's like the purest wish fulfillment.
