US Visa Application

I am being sponsored by a US company to apply for a US Visa. Tonight is the absolute final deadline. An initial series of declarations secured a Visa whilst we went through an adjudication procedure.

This week has seen a last minute rush and I have spent considerable time this week... trying to cajole and persuade friends, colleagues, ex-colleagues and people who have become strangers to make declarations under penalty of perjury under the laws of the USA. These declarations were drafted by the sponsor company's attorneys. The drafts are based on my CV. It's been pointed out that my CV is record of work. It gives little away about me... who I really am... or what I really want.

As a consequence I know the preparation and signing of these declarations has been awkward for some. It's been time consuming for many. It's just been impossible for others... but the cajoling and persuading is not something I found easy either.

Under penalty of perjury these individuals declared a)they were of sound mind b)they were fasmiliar with my work and performance, and c)recorded some very flattering comments on the scope of my skills.

Now I wait and see if these declarations satisfy the US Immigration services.

Back at APC Galway... Ryanair flight Edinburgh to Shannon was delayed yesterday 13:20 became 15:40... so I didn't get back to Galway till 19:00 way too late to hire a bike. But I've been invited to the Bodkins Galway Races BBQ tonight.

Another 20 minute walk to work this morning... missing the bike badly. But, I've managed to organise hiring one from a hire shop here in Galway €60 for TWO months... the deal that students get. Now, that's cheered me up. Work... I'm enjoying.

Utterly devastated today... I woke to find somebody had hacked through the lock and stolen the bike. I'd gone to the trouble of flying my bike over here to Galway so that I could not only cycle to work but also tour the area in the evenings and weekends.

New Bike

Crashed the new bike on Sunday evening. Prepared for the ride at Kay's Bar Edinburgh. Beer, new bike, cobbles don't work. As my face hit the pavement I remembered that I should have bought a hhelmet

First Post

Awoke at 6am and was immediately greeted by my 12 week old grandson Oscar. He'd been topped and tailed and was ready for the day ahead. We agreed our plan for the day was to sort out the financial crisis. We would then plan to get to the Middle East and sort of the Israeli/Palestine crisis. I reminded him he'd need to remember the parasol for his pushchair. He agreed if we achieved that then he'd probably be entitled to a feed and another long sleep. Oh if only we could.
